I'm going to get a kitten for my friend's birthday in a month but I don't have the $80 to adopt one from the local animal shelter, is there a website that collects local adoption offers from people? If not where should I look locally: city hall, newspaper, etc? If it helps I'm in Fullerton CA. I'm going to look around for posters people put up or people that set up in front of supermarkets but the odds of finding someone are kinda slim. The only websites I've found so far just redirect me to an animal shelter or local pet shop. Thanks for your time. Sorry, wasn't clear before. I know no cat is "free" once you take shots and spade/neutering it into account, but the owner of the cat/kitten may have already given it some of the shots, probably not but that's why I'm looking. I was going to see how much any additional treatment would cost once I found the cat and compare it with the cost of getting it from a local shelter. Also, I have thought about the cost of food and such but my friend's family already has two dogs, a cat, and a turtle (and yes I'm sure she wants another cat) so additional cost for food is almost a non-factor. Also, is craigslist "safe"? I was afraid someone would post something like "healthy kitten" and when I get it it has fleas, worms, rabies, and is pregnant. Thanks for all your time.... Read More »
